We know that you will be as shocked as we are by this appalling suffering of our fellow primates. The BUAV has now launched a new campaign called the Zero Option, demanding an end to all UK experiments on these highly intelligent, sentient creatures. If not, urge your MP to sign our Early Day Motion (EDM) on UK monkey experiments

• Write to the Home Office demanding the removal of the Certificate of Designation from Cambridge University that allows it to experiment on animals.

• Write to your MP (address below) urging them to support a completely independent inquiry into Cambridge University and the BUAV's evidence. We demand an inquiry independent of the Home Office which has demonstrated time and time again that it is institutionally incapable of impartiality and conducting adequate, unbiased investigations. The Home Office is simply not fit to carry out such an inquiry.

• Send a BUAV e-protest to the Medical Research Council (MRC) asking it to stop funding primate experiments. Some of the monkey research carried out at Cambridge University was publicly funded by the MRC.
