BUAV investigations have received international media, political and public attention. We have carried out high profile campaigns, educated the public on the moral and scientific arguments against the use of animals in research, produced well researched scientific critiques of animal research and non-animal alternatives and lobbied governments and international institutions around the world, including the UK and European parliaments.
The effects of our work have been widespread as governments and corporate bodies around the world have found themselves under increasing pressure to take action. Furthermore, the ethics and often questionable science of using animals in research is being raised internationally. As the public gets to know more about the reality of vivisection, so the battle for hearts and minds - crucial in any campaign for social change - is being won. Investigations are a crucial plank in lifting the lid of secrecy around animal experiments and in achieving real and lasting changes for animals.
