One little pup, named Patch by our investigator, was born on 22/10/98. His mother, herself only two years old, had already had two litters. This third litter consisted of three male and four female pups. Patch had distinctive and unusual markings.
In December Patch, along with his brothers and sisters, was moved to the puppy unit. Housed in large groups, the puppies were deprived of stimulation and human contact. Their mother was returned to another unit to await her next season. |

Patch at just a few weeks (left)... |

On 26/03/99 our investigator learnt that Patch was one of 56 dogs to be health-checked for an order for Quintiles in Edinburgh, one of Harlan UK's biggest clients. On 31/3/99 Patch was loaded onto a truck along with the others and sent off to be used in an experiment. He was only five months old.
After this we don't know what has happened to Patch. What we do know is that he won't survive. Patch's short life consisted of a cold concrete floor, barren surroundings, mayhem and suffering. His life was over before it had even begun. |

...and shortly before he was sold to the laboratory.
