Louise Robertshaw Q&A

Louise Robertshaw Q&A

When officer worker Louise Robertshaw heard about the BUAV’s work from a friend, she signed up immediately and slipped on her trainers to raise over £1,000 to help us put an end to animal experiments. Louise later appeared in our summer newsletter as our Star Supporter! Here’s what she told us:

Louise Robertshaw raised £510 and her employer, Venture Information Manage-ment, matched it with another £510 when she ran a Do It For Charity 5Km race in Regent’s Park.

Q. How did you become interested in the BUAV?

A. My friend Claire told me about the BUAV and your Humane Cosmetics Standard and Humane Household Products Standard. I completely agreed with what you are trying to achieve, ordered the Little Book of Cruelty Free and went on from there.

Q.Why did you decide to support an end to animal experiments?

A. Because the animals don’t have a choice and because I doubt the validity and necessity of animal experiments. Who really needs the latest plumpest mascara or extra-foamy cleaner if it means animals are tested on to get it.

Q. Why do you think it is important to fundraise for the BUAV?

A. I want to help make sure the BUAV can continue the great work they are doing with the Humane Cosmetics Standard and the Humane Household Products Standard and other campaigns to end animal experiments.

Q.If the BUAV could achieve one thing in the next 12 months, what would it be?

A. I would really like to see the Leaping Bunny become a stronger ethical kite-mark, recognised by all consumers as the independent cruelty-free symbol. I think big high street brands like M&S and The Body Shop could communicate the cruelty issue to a much wider audience if their compliance with the Leaping Bunny logo was displayed with greater prominence in their stores and on the front of their products.

Q. What’s your favourite cruelty-free company?

A. I love the Bio-D range of household cleaning products. Bio-D is BUAV approved, vegan and all round ethical.
