The latest from the BUAV's Chief Executive...

Thank you for your support during 2011!

2011 has been another busy year for the BUAV. We have achieved much and made many inroads. Throughout the year, we have enjoyed the support of numerous politicians and high profile celebrities and received national and international media coverage for our campaigns and investigations. Our achievements include saving animals from cruel toxicity tests, our Freedom of Information victory against Newcastle University and its controversial monkey experiments and persuading more household names to take on board our message and become BUAV certified. In addition, we continue to provide expert opinion at conferences and stakeholder’s meetings and we are leading members of various international coalitions working to end animal experiments and to promote non-animal alternatives.

As the holiday season approaches, I urge you to think about the animals this festive season. One way you can do this is to look for the BUAV’s Leaping Bunny trademark if you are purchasing gifts for family and friends. The Leaping Bunny symbolises the BUAV’s international certification which guarantees products and their ingredients are free from animal testing. Many retailers are now certified by the BUAV including BM Beauty, Bulldog Natural Skincare, Dermalogica, Liz Earle, Neal’s Yard Remedies and Urban Decay as well as high street chains such as Marks and Spencer and Superdrug, meaning that it is so easy to shop Cruelty Free this holiday season! Thank you for your support during 2011. Without the generosity of our supporters we could not have achieved as much as we have for the animals! 2012 promises to be even busier for us with many new challenges and campaigns along the way. However, the BUAV will continue to work to create a world where nobody wants or believes we need to experiment on animals. We cannot do this without your help!

From everyone at the BUAV, I wish you a peaceful holiday and a very happy New Year!
