Help us to end the terrible plight of monkeys like these by joining our call to China Southern Airlines and Air France to stop transporting monkeys for research. These monkeys were filmed after being unloaded from a China Southern Airlines aircraft at Chicago Airport in the USA.
Despite the growing list of airlines that refuse to ship monkeys around the world to laboratories, the BUAV has been tipped off that hundreds of monkeys are still arriving each week into the USA in the cargo holds of China Southern Airlines and Air France aircraft.
In the past few months, four key international carriers have stopped the transport of primates for research - Air Canada, Air China, China Eastern Airlines and Continental Airlines. Transporting primates in the cargo hold on passenger airlines is the cheaper option for laboratories. Commissioning cargo carriers costs thousands of dollars more, thereby increasing the price of each individual monkey. To keep costs down, primate suppliers and laboratories rely heavily on passenger airlines such as China Southern Airlines and Air France.
Although China Southern Airlines initially responded to public concern and suspended the transportation of monkeys to the USA for research, it has subsequently started flying monkeys again.
Please politely ask China Southern Airlines to end its involvement in these cruel shipments:
