We have reached the halfway point for our attendance at political party conferences this autumn. So far, we have attended the conferences of the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats and presented at Fringe events of both.

Still to come, we will have stands at the Labour and Conservative party conferences and our Chief Executive Michelle Thew will be speaking at the Labour Animal Welfare Society fringe meeting on Monday 23 September 1830-2000.

Today and tomorrow, the BUAV team is hosting a stand at the UKIP conference in London. We are using this opportunity to showcase the work of the BUAV over the past 12 months and to discuss our current campaigns.

As the parties discuss policy positions ahead of the 2015 election we will continue to push hard for the best deal for animals in laboratories. At the conferences we have been meeting and talking with MPs, MEPs, local Councillors and party members to discuss the BUAV campaigns, in particular:

We are asking MPs to sign EDM 442 which asks the Government to uphold its pledge to reduce animal experiments, and also our new EDM 541 on the use of cats and dogs in research. Please contact your local MP and ask them to visit the BUAV Policy team at their party conference to find out how they can make a difference to the millions of animals experimented on each year in laboratories.
