Major UK supermarket the Co-operative, certified under both the Humane Cosmetics Standard and the Humane Household Products Standard, has today launched a new initiative under its Green Schools Revolution. The Green Schools Revolution is a free programme aimed at teachers and parents, encouraging them to teach their children about sustainability. The GSR provides lessons plans and suggested activities, allowing interested teachers and parents to introduce kids to important ethical issues in a fun, accessible way.
This week the GSR has launched a new lesson plan and interactive game based on ethical logos – including, of course, the Leaping Bunny! This is a great way to get kids informed about the issue of animal testing for consumer products, and to spread the word about looking for the Leaping Bunny when out shopping. The activities are designed to spark debate and get pupils thinking about influences in society and the choices they make. Activities are aimed at different learning styles and include acting, persuasive writing and research. All the resources are aimed at KS2 and 3 with additional differentiation ideas and support.
Over 5000 schools have already signed up to the programme, and parents can get involved too via the GSR website. More information about the Ethical Logos activities can be found here.
