Home Office responds to BUAV investigation at Imperial College

The BUAV has received a letter from the Home Office Minister in response to the submission of our 70 page report detailing our findings at Imperial College London. The letter states that:

'Home Office Inspectors are investigating the allegations as a matter of urgency and I expect their initial report shortly.'

We welcome the fact that Home Office Inspectors are carrying out an initial investigation as a matter of urgency. Our report raised issues which certainly require immediate attention. However, we maintain that it is essential for the Home Office to set up a fully independent inquiry, independent of the Home Office and Imperial College London. Our findings and concerns relate not only to the behaviour of researchers and staff at Imperial College, but also to the Home Office licensing decisions and the adequacy of the inspection and enforcement regime.

If you have not already done so, please sign our petition and circulate it to your family and friends. Please also write to your MP urging him/her to contact Lord Taylor and ask that a fully independent inquiry is set up into the BUAV's findings at Imperial College London.
