We are delighted to receive the support of Leanne Wood, Assembly Member for Wales South Central and Leader of Plaid Cymru, for our Clean Up Cruelty campaign to end animal testing for household products and their ingredients. Leanne has pledged to only use products to clean her constituency office which are certified free from animal testing by the BUAV.
Leanne Wood AM, Leader of Plaid Cymru, said: “I’m proud to back the Clean Up Cruelty campaign by ensuring that the products used to clean my constituency office are free from animal testing. I know how important this issue is for many of my constituents and I’m pleased to show my support for a ban on the use of animals to test household products. I look forward to working with my Plaid colleagues to ensure that the number of ‘Cruelty Free offices’ continues to rise.”
The BUAV Chief Executive, Michelle Thew, said: “We are delighted that Leanne Wood AM, Leader of Plaid Cymru is supporting our Clean Up Cruelty campaign, sending a strong message that animal testing for household products is unacceptable. We call on all politicians to follow Leanne’s lead and work to end the cruel use of animals to test cleaning products.”
BUAV has spearheaded the campaign to end the use of animals in household product testing. Our Clean Up Cruelty campaign has already gained widespread support around the UK from politicians, retailers and the public as BUAV encourage more and more offices to go cruelty-free. The Coalition Government included a pledge to ban the use of animals to test household products in its plan for government, and the BUAV is working to ensure that this promise is kept to.
